Through his intuitive investigatory skills, the detective comes to find that the poisonings do not lead him to interrogate someone, but rather some thing – the tomato.

This Food Fable tells the story of a French spy who traveled to Chile in the 1700s on an expedition entrusted to him by Louis XIV. By his own account, we hear how and why this French spy came across the Chilean strawberry, which he brought home to France, opening the door for the cross between Chilean and Virginia cultivars – the ancestors of our modern-day beloved strawberry.
